Courses on learning the ancient art of Gilding. Water gilding and Oil gilding using gold and silver leaf. How to prepare surfaces for water gilding with gesso and bole. Learn decorative patterns such as gilding on raised gesso, the use of egg tempera paint onto gold or silver leaf to create the effect of Sgraffito, a decorative technique where the egg tempera is scratched away revealing the leaf colour underneath. The word "sgraffito" comes from the Italian word graffiare, which means "to scratch".
